In a world where interconnectedness and cultural understanding are increasingly vital educational institutions play a crucial role in fostering global communication. Recently an interesting international event held at Savon ammattiopisto exemplified this commitment to providing students and teachers with opportunities for internationalization within the school community.
Students from a diverse range of nationalities including Syria Ukraine Finland Russia Afghanistan and Iraq came together to participate in this event and embrace diversity. Moreover teachers and counselors from different fields of study took part in this event.
The event’s organizers ensured inclusivity by conducting activities in both Finnish and English allowing all participants to engage and communicate comfortably. This linguistic diversity not only facilitated interaction but also emphasized the importance of multilingualism in a global context.
One of the event’s highlights was the diverse array of activities offered to participants. From engaging in games that transcended language barriers to expressing themselves through pantomime handicrafts and singing students had opportunities to communicate and learn from one another.
One of the best parts was the food! Students cooked dishes and desserts from their own countries giving everyone a taste of different cultures. It was a great way to learn about food from other countries and try new flavors.
Moreover the event provided a platform for students to express their cultural identity through language. Each participant wrote a sentence in their native tongue further enriching the linguistic tapestry of the gathering and highlighting the diversity of the school community.
